A Wonderful Birthday

Children in Chicago may have watched the Bozo Show on Channel 9, but in Kentucky, we watched Wendy Wonderful on Channel 27. And if you were a very lucky little girl, you got to be on the show on your birthday, and give Wendy Wonderful a big red apple.

I’ve read the script of the play, Mrs. McThing, and I cannot quite figure out why my mother loved it enough to quote it. But she did. And she quoted one quote often enough for three-year-old Ginny to file it away for Her Big Moment.

I am told that when Wendy Wonderful (the horse puppet) and Mary Ann (his pretty sidekick) asked me my name, I quoted Mrs. McThing and said, “I am my mother’s dear little white rose.”

Was I wonderful, or what?

About Ginny O'Donnell

After reading a really nice obituary a few years ago, I considered what they'll write about me. "She worked all day, then went home and made supper." Except now, my husband has retired, so he makes the supper. Hm. I sound kinda lazy, but I'm always busy. You'll see. Part 2: I like my original About Me, so I'm keeping it intact. But now I, too, am footloose. Let's see what happens next, shall we? Part 3: Just to keep everything in perspective, I'm keeping parts 1 and 2 intact. Now, I am actively and happily NOT so footloose, doing my thing over at Cottage Door Press. And with it being off its training wheels, I will pick up my ginnygram pen again. Love!
