Robert Burns Was Right

The best-laid schemes o’ mice an’ men–um–jumped out the window, because their refrigerator at their lake house conked out on a holiday weekend. But because I am mouse who is usually okay with Plan B, the weekend was not a wash-out. (Which is good, because the clothes dryer is currently held together with a bungee cord.)

So here are two strong men trussing the dead fridge to haul it away.

And here’s the reason it probably died: three jars of cocktail sauce, five half-jars of tartar sauce, four pounds of sliced American cheese, goodness knows how many mustards and ketchups, and well, you  can see for yourself. The poor thing just gave up.

About Ginny O'Donnell

After reading a really nice obituary a few years ago, I considered what they'll write about me. "She worked all day, then went home and made supper." Except now, my husband has retired, so he makes the supper. Hm. I sound kinda lazy, but I'm always busy. You'll see. Part 2: I like my original About Me, so I'm keeping it intact. But now I, too, am footloose. Let's see what happens next, shall we? Part 3: Just to keep everything in perspective, I'm keeping parts 1 and 2 intact. Now, I am actively and happily NOT so footloose, doing my thing over at Cottage Door Press. And with it being off its training wheels, I will pick up my ginnygram pen again. Love!

  1. Maybe you should order a condiment refrigerator, the way some people have a cute little wine fridge. Wow, I will admit that the sheer amount of bottled sauces is impressive!

  2. That’s hilarious. This is proof that I am right about himself…ever since he retired and I call, he is either in the grocery store, on his way to the grocery store or heading home from the grocery store.

  3. Always the Southern girl. Lots and lots of mayo.

  4. Sounds like my parents fridge! I have to clean it out when they are gone so that no one stops me to tell me that “vinaigrette doesn’t really expire”. ;-)
